Join rangers and astronomers for a star party to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing. While the moon will not be visible during the star party, we’ll look to the Solar System to gaze upon objects of past, present, and future exploration. Now is your chance to see the moons of Jupiter! In order to preserve night vision and provide optimal viewing, red flashlights/headlamps are preferred. Regular flashlights are allowed but must be pointed toward the ground and turned off when not in use.

Alice Wallace was in college that she discovered yet another calling: yodeling, that haunting vocal style that blends blues, country, and western. Tanbark began in 2011 as a long-distance songwriting collaboration. After relocating to New York City later in 2014, Tanbark quickly found their place in the thriving Brooklyn music scene. VIP tickets include one hour wine and cheese reception before the show, souvenir Tiny Porch wine glass and a reserved chair in the VIP section.

Ventura County Pride 2019

Ventura County Pride Festival is a weekend-long event that celebrates the LGBT community, supporters, and allies in Ventura County. All proceeds raised go to sustain the Community Resource Center and Diversity Collective programs and services. Diversity Collective VC will kick the weekend off with a Pride Board of Directors Kick-Off Mixer, Friday, August 16th. There will then be a Pre-Pride Party, Friday, August 16th. A full day of entertainment from the main stage, VIPRIDE Lounge under the park gazebo, over 80 vendors, food truck show, kids zone including a drag queen story hour, Youth Lemonade Lounge, a senior Lavender Lounge, and so much more. You can stick around for a Pride After Party, Saturday, August 17th or Pride Brunch, Sunday, August 18th!

Senior Concerns, in partnership with the Grossman Burn Center and the Grossman Burn Foundation, will present a community seminar titled “Burn Prevention for Seniors.” This informative seminar, led by Barbara Rook, RN, and Helena San Marco, LVN, both with the Grossman Burn Center, will focus on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns, fire safety, burn prevention, emergency burn treatment and first aid. Seating is limited. To make a reservation, please contact Senior Concerns at 805-497-0189. Light refreshments will be served. Senior Concerns requests a donation of $10.

Cancer Support Community VVSB is looking for breast cancer survivors to share their stories through our annual Cups of Courage Workshop. Let your creativity flow! All supplies will be provided for participants to decorate bras in whatever style illustrates their individual journey through breast cancer. Completed bras will be on display at at our annual Paint The Town Pink Fundraising Event on October 1st at The Oaks Mall, along with each participant’s photograph and story. Ferguson Case Orr Paterson LLP (FCOP), Ventura County’s largest law firm, will host law professor and United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression David Kaye as featured speaker for its summer Engage & Enlighten event at the Kaye, one of the world's leading voices on human rights in the digital age, will talk about his newly published book, “Speech Police: The Global Struggle to Govern the Internet.” The event will begin with a reception from 5:30–6 p.m. followed by the main program.
