World AIDS Day observation

Part of Ventura County’s annual observance of World AIDS Day, this three-part program invites everyone to consider HIV/AIDS as not only as an issue of global health but also one of social justice that impacts our local communities. From 4:30 to 6 p.m., “HIV/AIDS 101,” a sexual health education session, will provide new medical information as well as global, national and local updates. At 6 p.m., a speaker living with HIV/AIDS will share his personal health story and experiences as an advocate and activist. The event concludes with a nondenominational candlelight vigil beginning at about 7 p.m. The vigil is an act of commitment: to stand with others in loss, against injustice and connected in hope.
